Day 1 | Arrival Bangalore

Arrive at Bangalore International airport. Our representative will assist you in getting transferred to your pre booked hotel. Check in, and relax for the day. Stay overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 2 | Bangalore

After breakfast, go on the city tour of the Botanical Garden, Cubbon Park, Gandhi Bhawan, Jwaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Tipu Sultan Fort, and Vidhan Soudha. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 3 | Bangalore – Mysore (148 kms/4 hrs)

After breakfast, check out the hotel and proceed to Mysore. En route visit Srirangapatna (16km from Mysore) – the island fortress of Tipu Sultan and the early capital of the Mysore Wodiyars – Here you will find monuments such as Tipu’s mosque with its twin minarets built in 1787, Tipu’s Summer Palace (known as the Daria Daulat Bagh) built completely on wood and converted into a museum that houses some fantastic artefacts and paintings related to Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan, and the Gumbaz where lie buried Tipu Sultan, Haider Ali and others of the royal family. Arrival at Mysore, and check-in at your hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 4 | Mysore

After your breakfast, proceed on a sightseeing tour to get a feel of this charming city as you past some lovely colonial structures and old local monuments. Visit the Maharajah’s Palace, one of the most beautiful buildings in India. Continue towards the colorful Devarajan Market and also visit Chamundi Temple, overlooking Mysore from the 1062 metre summit of Chamundi Hill. This afternoon proceed for a quick stop at the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary for a boat ride. The reserve of 40 acres is an important nesting and breeding ground for the thousands of bird species. Later on, you will experience a heritage Tonga ride (horse-drawn chariots). These vehicles ruled the streets in their heyday and now are used to ferry around the heritage buildings and provides insights into the local culture. Back to hotel.

Day 5 | Mysore Kabini (70 kms/2 hrs)

After your breakfast at the hotel, drive to the Nagarahole National Park. On arrival, check-in at your hotel. This late afternoon, proceed for a Jeep Safari into the Nagarahole park, accompanied by experienced drivers and Naturalists. This area boasts of the highest density in Asiatic wildlife and is considered one of the best places in India to view the Asiatic elephants and gaur. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 | Kabini

Early morning, cruise through the serene backwaters of the River Kabini on a motor boat viewing Aquatic Bird and other wild life on the water intent on their morning catch. Return back to your hotel and again later this afternoon, enjoy a Jeep Safari into the Nagarahole park, accompanied by experienced drivers and Naturalists. Rest of the day at leisure to relaxe in the serene area. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 | Kabini – Bandipur (80 km/3 hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave the Kabini river for the plains of the Bandipur National Park. This park along with Nagarhole, Wayanad Sanctuary and Mudumalai National Park, makes the Nilgiri Biosphere. It is one of South India’s most famous wildernesses areas, and home to leopards, four-horned antelopes, crested serpent eagles, as well as fragrant Sandalwood trees. On route, you will visit the Venugopalaswamy temple at Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, located at a height of 1450 m, highest peak in the Bandipur National Park, known for Krishna temple, built by King Chola Bhallala in 1315 AD. Check-in at your hotel. Enjoy the end of your day in your jungle retreat. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 8 | Bandipur – Madumalai – Bandipur

This early morning, get ready for a wildlife exploration & birding within the periphery of the national park. You will board a Jeep Safari (Duration 2hs) to explore the Bandipur National Park with knowledgeable guides. There’s plenty to see: elephants munching on bamboo, herds of spotted deer, Indian bison and crested serpent eagles.

Later return to the resort for fresh-n-up and breakfast. In the late afternoon, you will again get ready to explore the nearby park, Mudumalai National Park. This kind of safari (canter bus) is not deep inside the jungle but run on the peripheral roads that run through the forest. Mudumalai is an ideal home to several endangered and vulnerable species nestling Indian elephant, Bengal Tiger, Gaur and Indian Leopard. After enjoying this wildlife safari we will return to Bandipur to enjoy the end of your day in your jungle retreat. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 9 | Bandipur – Conoor – Ooty

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out and proceed to Ooty. Called the Queen of Hill Stations – Picturesque, green Ooty is the most popular hill station in South India. Upon arrival check-in the hotel. This early afternoon take the Toy Train from Ooty to Coonoor. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway, built by the British in 1908, in July 2005, UNESCO added the Nilgiri Mountain Railway as an extension to the World Heritage Site of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. On arrival in Coonoor proceed for the sightseeing – Lamb’s Rock, view point of the surroundings Tea and Coffee plantations then heads up to another viewpoint, the Dolphin’s Nose lying over 1,000 feet above sea level, 10 km from Coonoor. Back to Ooty. Overnight Stay at hotel.

Day 10 | Ooty – Pollachi (150 kms/3-4 hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Pollachi and step into the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu. Pollachi was known as “pozhilvaichi” which means “the land of natural wealth and prosperity. You will be directed to your hotel. Later on you may take a visit to one of the nearby villages to take a look at their way of life, suffused with a rustic charm is a must. Also, enjoy the bullock cart rides, take part in village games such as Uriadi, and experience the sublime tastes of village cooking at one of the local houses. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 11 | Pollachi – Munnar (110 km/3 hrs)

After breakfast, enjoy a walk in the mornings where the only noise would be peacocks calling out to each other in the town. Proceed to Munnar, South India’s largest tea-growing region, passing through the rolling hills and sculpted tea gardens. Check-in at your hotel. Later on go to the Eravikulam National Park (subject to opening) – A sanctuary for the mountain goat of South India, the Nilgiri Tahr. Later see the Mattupetty dam with its still water reflecting the tea gardens around. Overnight stay.

Day 12 | Munnar

After your breakfast, go on a full day trekking passing through the rolling hills and sculpted tea gardens of Munnar (Difficulty level is easy / duration 4-5 hrs). You will be transferred by Jeep to your trek starting point at Top station village. From there go walking, passing through the Tea Plantations where you can interact with the Tea workers. Continue your trek path to the village of Pazhathottam and observe the farmers raising their fields. Enjoy a Picnic Lunch served en route. Finally you will be picked by the Jeep to proceed to Koviloor village and later oriented back to your hotel. Overnight stay in the hotel.

 

Day 13 | Munnar – Cochin (140 kms/3-4 hrs)

Morning breakfast, check out and get transferred to Cochin – the Queen of Arabian Sea, undoubtedly the Commercial hub of Kerala, where ancient civilization gracefully mingles with the modern life. Arrive at your hotel located in Fort Kochi and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in the streets of this colonial township. On evening discover the famous dance drama of Kerala, the “Kathakali” show. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 14 | Cochin

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Cochin visiting St. Francis’ Church, built in the year 1503 by Portuguese Francisan Friars & known to be the oldest European church in India. We also visit Dutch Palace, originally built by the Portuguese. Later in 17th century they modified it & presented it to the Raja (King) of Kochi (Cochin).

Later, visit Jew Town, synagogue, built in the year 1568, is magnificently decorated by Chinese tiles & Belgian chandeliers. Giant scrolls of the Old Testament can be found here. Also visit the spice market, where the air is filled with the pungent smell of spices & history that brought the world to its doorstep. Chinese fishing nets, (Cheenavala) are distinctly unique to Cochin. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 15 | Cochin – Alleppey

Breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to the Houseboat for your Backwaters cruise. These boats are a reworked version of kettuvallams of olden times and made out of huge planks of Jack wood, joined with coir from Coconut shells. Cruise through the palm fringed canals enjoying the beauty of rural village life. You will be offered to accompany the Chef on a visit to the direction a local food market to buy all the ingredients for the execution of your sumptuous Keralan meals served on board. The trip continues through a wonderful area of the lush green vegetation of Kerala backwaters. Dinner & overnight on board the Houseboat.

Day 16 | Alleppey – Thekkady

After your breakfast at the hotel, drive up hill to Manjappally Plantation Bungalow. Visit the plantations spread around the Bungalow and later on sample the best of authentic Kerala cooking, as made in traditional Syrian Christian homes. Then continue to Thekkady – Periyar Wildlife Reserve. This sanctuary is an established tourist spot and home to elephants, tiger, bison, sambar, wild boar, langur etc. with unending Chains of hills and spice-scented plantations. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Later, go on a spice plantation tour where you can touch, smell and taste almost all the spices seen worldwide. Due to its location in the lower mountains around 1000 meters above sea level, Periyar is blessed with numerous types of spices. Later enjoy a stroll through the spice Markets of Kumily. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 17 | Thekkady

Early morning we take a guided Jungle walk through the Periyar Tiger Reserve/National Park. A three hour relatively easy to moderate walk is very interesting and will give us a chance to see wildlife life from a very close distance. Return to hotel for breakfast. Later in the afternoon we board a boat and cruise the lake at the heart of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. From the tranquility of the lake, we enjoy the lush scenery all around us as we look out for animals that come down to the water’s edge for a drink – often it is a herd of elephants or scurrying wild boars or the magnificent Sambar Deer. In the evening we attend a KALARIPAYATTU SHOW which is the oldest form of martial arts and is celebrated as the mother of all martial arts. Return and stay overnight in the hotel.

 

Day 18 | Thekkady – Madurai (150 kms/4 hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. This morning take a scenery hill drive toward Tamil Nadu to its most vibrant city Madurai. Before your check-in at the hotel, go visit the sprawling Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, 17th century palace of the emperor of the Nayak dynasty and capture its hybrid Dravidian-Islamic style. Check in and relax for the day.

 

Day 19 | Madurai

This day enjoy the sightseeing tour of Madurai visit Sree Meenakshi Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva who was known here as Sundareshvara and his wife Parvati or Meenakshi. Thirumalai Nayak Palace is a magnificent palace that was built by King Thirumalai Nayak with valuable assistance of an Italian architect in the year 1636, Gandhi Museum and Mariamman Teppakulam. Return and stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 20 | Madurai – Trichy – Tanjore (195 kms/4 hrs)

After breakfast, check-out, and direction Trichy, citadel of the early Chola and Pallavas kings. En route don’t forget to make a stop at the Madurai’s flower market which is one of the biggest in the southern region. On arrival after your check-in at hotel, go visit the Srirangam Temple, quite possibly the biggest temple in India, looking like a self-enclosed city with its 49 separate shrines, all dedicated to Vishnu. Follow with the Rock-Fort Temple, landmark of Trichy, perched on a massive outcrop of 83m high. Keep on your journey to Tanjore, former capital of the mighty Cholas Empire and check-in at your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 21 | Tanjore

This morning be immersed into the Chola Empire legacy during a visit of the world Heritage-listed Brigadeswara Temple, build in the 11th century by Raja Raja I (‘king of kings’). Continue your visits at the Thanjavur’s Royal Palace, which preserves memories of other powerful dynasties from later centuries. Here, explore the Saraswati Mahal Library Museum housing over 30000 Indian and European manuscripts and the Art Gallery containing a collection of superb, mainly Chola, bronzes and stone carvings. It is time for your next enlightment, sneak into a small house and witness the Tanjore veena art making process, there an entire instrument is carved on a single block of Jackwood. Later on learn about the Tanjavur painting technique with gem stones inlay demonstration from the masters. Overnight at stay.

 

Day 22 | Tanjore – Pondicherry (177 kms/3-4 hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. Early morning drive to Pondicherry. En route stop at Swamimalai and observe the art of making Bronze idols by Stapathis (sculptors) as per the traditional Shilpa Sastras (craft hindu system) prevailed from the Chola period. Follow to Darasuram and see its famous Airavatesvara Chola Temple, UNESCO world heritage site, carved with vivid elephants and horses pulling chariots and dating from the 12th century. On arrival check-in at your hotel and relax.

 

Day 23 | Pondicherry

After breakfast, drive up to Auroville, this spiritual community was founded in 1926 by Sri Aurobindo and a French-born woman known as ‘the Mother’. You will be taken through the visitor’s center and a few of the Auroville units which innovatively work on paper, textile, bamboo and stones. Pass by the Matri mandir (the meditation centre) and learn from those who choose to join, build and live this unique lifestyle. Enjoy a lunch (optional) at Solar kitchen – the community Kitchen for the inmates and understand the unique living here, based on universal harmony. Evening enjoy a Walking tour through the French district and the Tamil quarter. Pass by the white town (as the French quarter is popularly known as) with its heritage colonial buildings, keep biking toward the Tamil quarter and learn the anecdotes of the distinctiveness of Franco-Tamil culture, creating a fusion of diversity in the air of Pondy. Return to your hotel.

Day 24 | Pondicherry – Mahabalipuram (100 kms/2 hrs)

After breakfast, check out and enjoy a coastal drive to the seaside town of Mahabalipuram, port of the Pallava in the 5th to 8th centuries. Check-in your hotel and go visit the magnificent Shore temple, symbolising the heights of Pallava architecture and the maritime ambitions of their kings. The masterpiece of Mahabalipuram’s Rock cut caves representing the scenes of Hindu myths and finish by the site of the Five Rathas. Rest of the day free relaxing on the beach. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 25 | Mahabalipuram – Chennai

After your breakfast at the hotel, head to your final destination Chennai and get introduced to the “Capital of the south”. Check in and relax for the day.

Day 26 | Chennai

After breakfast, explore the diverse neighborhoods and sense its role as a keeper of South Indian artistic and religious traditions. Take a peek into colonial Madras though its majestic buildings such the excellent British-built Government Museum, the Roman style San Thome Basilica and the majestic colonial Fort St George. Later you will be directed in the heart of the bustling Mylapore, where you will zigzag though the very beat and pulse of this neighbourhood, learn about Tamil Nadu myriad customs and Hindu tradition during a visit of the impressive Kapaleeshwarar temple, with its rainbow-coloured gopuram and pillared mandapas. Finally take a sunset walk along the long stretch of Marina Beach. Overnight in the hotel.

 

Day 27 | Chennai – Fly back home…
