Day 1 | Arrival Bangalore

Upon arrival at Bangalore airport, meet and assistance by our office representative, followed by transfer to hotel for check-in. Experience this Cosmopolitan city with its lovely parks, long avenues of blossomed trees and impressive Victorian-era architecture. This new hub of India’s booming IT industry is also blessed with a pleasant climate and a burgeoning dining and shopping scene. Later in the afternoon explore this city starting with the elegant Tipu Sultan’s Palace – a fine specimen of military architecture from 18th century, notable for its teak pillars and ornamental frescoes. Continue your visit with the Dravidian-style Bull Temple built in the 16th-century, pass by the Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, the Cubbon Park, a sprawling 120-hectare garden surrounded by wonderful colonial architecture, including the red-painted Gothic-style State Central Library, the colossal neo-Dravidian-style Vidhana Soudha (the state legislature of Karnataka) and finally the Attara Kacheri (High court) built in 1864. If time permits, indulge yourself with a visit at the National Gallery of Modern Art, world class art museum, housed in the former vacation home of the Raja of Mysore, featuring paintings from the most famous influencable artists in India such as Raja Ravi Varma and Abanindranath Tagore, etc. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 | Bangalore – Mysore

After an early breakfast at the hotel and check-out, drive south to Mysore. En-route stop at Somnathpur, well known for the breathtaking Prasanna Chennakeshava Temple, one of the three famous & finest representations of Hoysala architecture nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Site status. On arrival check-in at your hotel. This afternoon proceed for a sightseeing tour: Visit the Maharajah’s Palace, one of the most beautiful buildings in India. Inside, you will find a kaleidoscope of stained glass, beautiful carved wooden doors and mosaic floors. Continue towards the colourful Devarajan Market and later visit the Chamundi Temple, overlooking Mysore from the 1062 metre summit of Chamundi Hill. At the top of the 1,001 steps up, lies the 12th century temple that houses a golden statue of Chamundi – the Hindu goddess worshipped by the Maharajas. This evening after some rest, you will experience a heritage Tonga ride (horse-drawn chariots). These vehicles ruled the streets in their heyday and now are used to ferry around the historical buildings and provides insights into the local culture. Back to hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 3 | Mysore

Early morning explore Mysore during a Heritage walking tour and get a feel of this charming city. Pass by some lovely colonial structures, old local monuments and temples and learn the stories behind them with your storyteller. End up your tour with a good local cuppa filter coffee before heading back to your hotel for breakfast. By Midday, proceed to a Cooking demonstration from one of the culinary experts of Mysore, who draws from the generations of knowledge and bring you recipes that are Ayurvedically balanced and delightful in flavor. After lunch, drive for the visit of Srirangapatna (16km from Mysore) – the island fortress of Tipu Sultan and the early capital of the Mysore Woodiyars – Here you will find monuments such as Tipu’s mosque with its twin minarets built in 1787, Tipu’s Summer Palace (known as the Daria Daulat Bagh) completely on wood and converted into a museum that houses some fantastic artefacts and paintings related to Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan, and finally the Gumbaz where lie buried Tipu Sultan, Haider Ali and others of the royal family. This evening you will witness, the Kushti – Traditional India style wrestling. It isn’t just a sport but an ancient subculture where wrestlers live, train together and follow strict rules. These wrestling take place in a clay or dirt pit. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4 | Mysore – Hassan

After breakfast departure for Hassan by a beautiful winding road. En route see the 58-feet tall monolithic statue of Gommateshvara located on Vindyagiri one of the twin Hills of the village Shravanabelagola. It is considered to be the world’s largest monolithic stone statue. Then continue your journey to Hassan, city founded in the 11th century. On arrival check in at your hotel. In the afternoon proceed for Belur and Halebid sightseeing. A few kilometres from Hassan, Belur is the first site built by the Hoysala dynasty (11th and 12th century). The many and admirable reliefs recount scenes of battle between the Cholas Vishnuvardhana and his neighbour of Tamil Nadu. At Halebid, the Temple Hoysaleshwara appears like a jewel in the quality of its sculptures. No details are overlooked in this stunning overview of the great Hindu myths. Return to Hassan for your dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 | Hassan – Chikmagalur

Proceed towards Chikmagalur. On the way visit the Chennakeshawa Temple at Belur, built in the year 1117 AD to celebrate Hoysala military victories & it took over a hundred years to complete. Stories from the Purans, Upanishads & other mythological sources have been executed in the most exquisite & authentic detail, tales from Ramayana & Mahabharata. After exploring these temples, proceed towards Chikmagalur and stay overnight in the booked hotel.

Day 6 | Chikmagalur

We will leave for Chikmagalur city tour today after breakfast in the morning. Chikmagalur is the place where coffee was first cultivated in India. Explore the real nature’s beauty and witness to some of the breathtaking views of the nature. Here we will be visiting the lush green coffee plantation hills along with two of the major tourist destinations i.e. Horanadu and Baha Budan Giri. Later, return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7 | Chikmagalur – Hospet

In the morning after breakfast, we will check out from the hotel in Chikmangalur and leave for Hospet by road. On reaching, check in at your pre-booked hotel and afterwards, leave to visit the famous Tungabhadra Dam. Thereafter, we will pay a visit to the other tourist places of Hospet such as Lotus Mahal, the Archaeological Museum, Royal Place and Vittala temple. Later, in the evening, we may visit Anantashayana temple, which is situated at the eastern fringe of Hospet.

Day 8 | Hospet – Hampi

After breakfast in the morning, we will leave for a day tour to Hampi, the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the alluring ruined state that attracts large number of tourists from across the globe. On arrival, we will check in at the hotel for a night stay. After checking in, we will leave to explore Hampi. The state is blessed with various stunning monuments. In our day tour, we will be exploring the beautiful temples, royal platforms, ancient market streets, remains of aquatic structures, treasury buildings, bastions, royal pavilions, etc. We will also visit the famous religious centre, housing the Virupaksha temple and other such monuments belonging to the old city. Later, we will return back to the hotel for dinner followed by an overnight stay.

Day 9 | Hampi – Badami

In the morning after breakfast, we will leave for Badami, the royal capital of Chalukyas. Badami is a beautiful city dotted with many cave temples, fortresses, entryways and carvings. On the way visit Pattadakal, which consists of temples from the northern Nagara and southern Dravida schools. Pattadakal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with around 10 temples that portray a perfect blend of Indian architectural styles. After exploring the Papanatha Temple and the other ancient temples of Pattadakal, proceed towards Badami. Reach Badami and check in the hotel to relax for the day.

Day 10 | Badami

Today we take a tour of Badami. We will be visiting several temples dating from the Chalukyas’ period in Badami. First set of temples is a group of four on a hill adjacent to the Bhutanatha Tank, dating back to the 5th century. In the adjacent wall there is a carving of the cosmic dance of Shiva Natarajan depicted with eighteen arms. The second temple bears images of Vishnu in his Varaha & Trivikrama incarnations. The third is a rock cut temple with inscriptions dating to 578 AD, belong to the period of Kiritivarma Chalukyas. There are carved images of the Narasimha & Trivikrama avataras of Vishnu.

Further up is a Jain rock cut temple dedicated to the Tirthankara Adinath with inscriptions dating back to the 12th century. The Mallikarjuna temple dating 11th century is on a star shaped plan.
Later, we visit Bhutanath Temple facing the Agastya Lake to catch the sunset. In the evening return and stay overnight in the hotel.

 

Day 11 | Badami – Goa

In the morning drive to Goa through the lush green Western Ghats. On arrival check in at the hotel and the rest of the day is free.

Day 12 | Goa

Today proceed to visit the old Goa, housing large number of Churches built by the Portuguese. Some of the major churches to visit include the Chapel of St Francis Xavier, the Church of St Francis of Assissi and the Basilica of Bom Jesus. In the evening enjoy the boat cruise on Mandovi River. Return to the hotel in the evening for an overnight stay.

 

Day 13 | Goa

This day will be at leisure.

 

Day 14 | Goa – Fly back home…
